Impetigo

I have been diagnosed with impetigo and my doctor gave my polysporin. Does this work?

Your doctor is a fool. Impetigo is a superficial infection of the skin and appears as a yellow crusty lesion. It usually appears on the face and neck area. You may want to try and rinse the area 2-3 times a day with a wet cloth. The topical antibiotics are generally ineffective and most patients need a penicillin or erythromycin. Impetigo is easily transmitted to other household members so, avoid close contact and launder your clothes daily.
